Clinics are held by specialist practice nurses with additional help from the doctors and hospital specialists for the following:
Patients who have these conditions may be invited regularly to attend a nurse led clinic for supervision of their medical condition.
We provide full antenatal and postnatal maternity care with deliveries usually at Great Western Hospital. We work closely with the midwives who carry out antenatal clinics in the surgeries.
We provide a full service including the fitting of coils and caps, insertion of implants and we offer advice about and prescribe the contraceptive pill.
The Health Visitor is available as follows:
Every 2nd Wednesday of the month between 10:30 and 12:00 at Ramsbury Surgery (drop in clinic).
All women from the age of 25 to 65 are encouraged to have a smear. Those from 25-50 every 3 years and those 50-65 every 5 years. These are carried out either by the Practice Nurses or Doctors.
A counselling/psychology team are attached to this practice and access to this service is by Doctor’s referral. Patients are then invited to make their own appointment and are initially offered self-help, coping strategies and courses such as stress management. Further appointments are arranged as needed.
This is carried out within the practice where appropriate. We have our own equipment for cryotherapy.
“No Worries” Clinic
This service offers confidential contraception advice, treatment and support for those aged between 13 and 19.
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form below, giving as much notice as possible BEFORE your travel date.
AFTER FIVE WORKING DAYS FROM SUBMITTING YOUR TRAVEL QUESTIONNAIRE, PLEASE PHONE THE SURGERY TO ASK WHAT VACCINATIONS/MEDICATION ARE REQUIRED (IF ANY) AND TO BOOK YOUR TRAVEL APPOINTMENT.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to complete the above questionnaire and bring this into the Surgery so that a Practice Nurse can decide what, if any, vaccinations or medication you may need for your travel. IT IS IMPORTANT THIS IS COMPLETED PRIOR TO ANY APPOINTMENT BEING MADE.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
Some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
A number of private practitioners provide services from the practice premises (acupuncture, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, osteopathy etc). These practitioners are completely independent of the practice and the NHS and whilst we believe them to be of good standing the practice accepts no responsibility or liability for any service provided by them, or failure thereof howsoever caused. Please contact the surgery for further details, or pop in to pick up one of their leaflets.
